A filming notice found on Reeves Ave in Flushing, New York has announced that the street will be closed for project name “Y” on the 17th of September. A quick search of the NYC Media and Entertainment office alsok
reveals that as of September 7th Y: The Last Man has begun filming in the city.
Y: The Last Man follows the story of Yorick Brown, the only survivor of a worldwide cleansing of the entire male population of the world. The Brian K. Vaughan comic series was first released back in 2002 to critical success. The property has bounced from studio to studio countless times, finally landing on the hands of FX last August.
The series will star Diane Lane (Justice League, Man of Steel) and Barry Keoghan (Dunkirk, The Killing of a Sacred Deer) as Yorick Brown. The release date for the pilot has yet to be announced.
I am ecstatic to hear that one of my favorite comic book series is going to be filming right next door to my classes. So much so that I may even have to sneak out of class to get a look at that monkey.
